Years ago, while driving to work, the tape I was listening to talked about how when you see a bird, you should say, “I love you too, dear God!” because a bird is a reminder of how much God loves us.
I laughed when I heard this and thought I didn’t need a bird to remind me how much God loves me. As soon as I said this, a flock of birds gracefully flew across my windshield. My heart opened wide at the sight of all the birds joyfully greeting me. My tears flowed seeing how much God wanted to show me I am loved in a way I couldn’t possibly ignore.
Selfless, unconditional love is easier to define from theory than from experience. Once experienced, you will know love from the fruits of such experience. Once experienced, you will know love from the fruits of such experience. You feel the bliss of heightened joy and the peace that passes understanding.
You see the beauty in everything.
You get an unquestionable knowing and feeling of your oneness with the love that god is in each of us.
In April, 2006, I attended a three-day Silent Retreat at Unity Village. On Friday, before we went into the Silence, we were asked what our expectations would be. That night, I prayed to get clear on what my expectation might be of my experience in the Silence.
When I woke up the next morning, I read a passage from May Rowland that said:
“The silence is not something mysterious. It is that inner place of stillness where you feel and know your oneness with God.”
I got it!!!
The three days revealed my oneness with God in many ways and forms , in realization of the joy, peace, beauty and wisdom from within. I was gracefully content that my expectations were more than fulfilled.
During our coming out of the Silence meditation on Sunday morning, I was so moved by the music that I was in tears. I had an amazing feeling of lightness and at the same time a surge of what felt like a flow of cool current rising and expanding within me. As I looked and listened to everyone share their stories, this indefinable feeling of love welled up, filling me with tenderness and affection and enfolding everyone with seamless love. In that brief moment of acceptance and innate caring for everyone, I was the love that God is!!!
Having experienced such clarity, I pondered on how does one maintain a constant state of this highest and purest vibration of love?
I sat in the Silence with this question. What came to me was to simply “Be Open and Receptive!”
The work is done by the loving Presence of God within us and our part is to pay attention and listen to God’s inspiration and guidance, be open, receptive and willing to follow in faith the way that opens before us as it leads us to become the channel and the instrument for love’s expression.
God works in mysterious ways as we pay close attention to our divine guidance, a passionate desire to know more about our spiritual make-up develops.
Overtime, things become clear and our understanding of Truth. What is true of Love, brings to us the fullness of joy and the
peace we seek.
We acquire the wisdom to discern the guidance we receive from within. Our creativity from what we naturally love doing becomes uniquely expressed in form.
The Prayer
“Divine love through me blesses and multiplies all that I am, all that I have, all that I give, all that I receive,”
when affirmed front the depths of our heart, aligns us to the activity of our love through us.
When we are in the flow of God’s love, all is well and we are blessed!!!
